The SimWorks High Plains Drifter is a re-release of the brand’s klunker-inspired all-terrain bike from 2022. Featuring fresh paint and new components made by Stitch Tech and DOOM, this retro mountain bike is quite an interesting package…
Initially released in 2022, the SimWorks High Plains Drifter is back in a new “Prairie Sage” color, accompanied by the release of some complementary bars and a custom frame bag from Stitch Tech, designed to sit perfectly in the space provided by the double top tube. While the geometry of the High Plains Drifter remains unchanged from the prior release, SimWorks says that they took great pride in creating another frameset and related components focused on “contributing to a local economy of skilled creators that continually demonstrate a commitment to exemplary work within our industry.”

The SimWorks High Plains Drifter features a TIG-welded and brazed chromoly frameset, a unicrown chromoly fork with 55mm rake and 430mm in axle to crown space, a 110mm x 15mm / 148 x 12mm boost thru-axle standard, a custom bolt-on truss assembly, a tapered head tube with 1-1/8″ to 1-1/4″ fork steerer 73mm BSA Threaded BB, and room for 29” x 2.4” or 27.5” x 2.6” tires. The bike also has 31.6 internal dropper post routing, a 34.9mm seat collar, and eyelets for racks and fenders.
The frameset is available in four sizes: small, medium, large, and extra large, with every size except small accommodating at least two bottles in the frame. Three-pack mounts can be found on either fork blade, as well as the underside of the downtube. Framesets start at $2,800 and are currently in pre-order status, with shipment starting in “late 2025.” The High Plains handlebars from DOOM are made of chromoly steel, are 800mm wide, have 80mm of rise, 13° of backsweep, 4° upsweep, and retail for $275. The custom frame bag, made by Cody Forsythe of Stitch Tech in Portland, Oregon, is made from a nylon/cotton blended Cordura X-Pac and retails for $125 USD.
