Owned and operated by Adam Sklar, Sklar Bikes is a California-based bicycle brand that previously only made custom frames but made the transition to Taiwan-made production bikes in the last few years. I stopped by Adam’s new workshop earlier this year and shared all the details on this exciting new chapter, but the short story is Adam wanted a way to offer his frames at a more accessible price point.
The move to production frames means Adam has more time to design and fabricate prototypes and small-batch frames, which are still all handmade by Adam in Oakland. His new video series showcases some of the behind-the-scenes production. The first episode showcased a redesign of the Super Something’s chainstay yoke, and episode two, which you can watch below, demonstrates Adam’s process of building a custom steel road bike.
