For Sour Bicycles in Germany, the time has come to integrate the new 32-inch wheel size into their popular cross-country platform, the Pasta Party. The new Sour Pasta Party 32″ features revised geo and new specs, and it’s available now. Take a closer look here…
Sour Bicycles in Dresden, Germany, is the latest bike brand to offer a production 32-inch bicycle. The new Sour Pasta Party 32″ builds on their regular Pasta Party platform, but it was designed from the ground up to accommodate 32-inch wheels. According to Sour’s founder/owner, Christoph Süße, “[Our] goal was simple: take the benefits of the new wheel size and integrate them without losing the signature handling of the Pasta Party.”
The Pasta Party 32″ features fully revised geometry, including a longer front center, adjusted chainstay length, increased tire clearance, and compatibility with newly developed 32-inch suspension forks. Sour says it takes advantage of the 32-inch platform by offering improved rollover performance on technical terrain, increased stability at higher speeds, better momentum retention and climbing efficiency, and more traction through corners and over mixed surfaces.
It’s built up around a custom-drawn multi-butted Chromoly steel frame, boost hub spacing, a 73mm threaded bottom bracket, a 100-120mm travel fork, and has clearance for 32 x 2.4″ tires. The frame has two bottle mounts inside the main triangle, downtube bosses, external cable routing, dropper post routing, and a SRAM UDH dropout. The lower seat tube is ovalized, which Sour says improves power transfer, and the toptube is ovalized as well, which they say improves comfort and steering.
Like their other models, the Pasta Party 32″ is handmade in Saxony, just outside of Dresden. Some quick geo specs include a 66.6° head tube angle, 450mm chainstays, an 87mm bottom bracket drop (those are some big wheels!), and a 75.6° seat tube angle. It’s available in just three sizes, which doesn’t come as a surprise considering the improbability of 32-inch wheels working well on smaller frame sizes. Find the complete geo chart below.
