The wait is over! Pre-orders for the new Stridsland Beachcomber modern 26+ all-terrain bicycle open today, and it’s available in both titanium and steel versions. Find photos, specs, and other essential details here…
After a few years of designing and tinkering and multiple prototypes, Matias from the small Denmark-based company Stridsland is opening pre-orders for his first production bike, the Stridsland Beachcomber. We’ve been following the Beachcomber project for several years now, and we’re excited to see some of these unique bikes out in the wild.
In short, the Beachcomber is a modern take on an old 26” MTB, designed for 26+ tires, thru-axles or QR, disc brakes, and dropper routing. Blurring the lines between your choice of buzzwords like gravel, ATB, commuter, MTB, and BMX, the idea was to create a fun bike to ride directly from your front door, wherever that may be. The recipe is something along the lines of: lots of mounts for all your bike-camping needs, a big front triangle for a spacious frame bag, and a high BB with short chainstays for fewer pedal strikes and more playfulness.
The Stridsland Beachcomber is being offered in titanium and Chromoly steel. Both versions feature dropper post routing, a standard 1-1/8″ headtube, adjustable dropouts, and IS disc mounts front and rear. The frames are kitted out with all the mounts you could need, including multiple bosses inside the main triangle, triple-pack mounts on the fork legs and seat stays, and additional cargo cage mounts under the downtube. Fender mounts and external cable routing also come standard. They are being offered in sizes S (50): 165-175cm (5’5″-5’9″), M (54): 175-185cm (5’9″-6’1″), and L (58): 185-195cm (6’1″-6’5″). Complete geo can be found here. Learn about both Beachcomber versions below.
Stridsland Steel Beachcomber
The steel Stridsland Beachcomber is based around a 4130 Chromoly steel frame, double butted front triangle, and stainless steel dropouts. It’s optimized for 26 x 2.8″ tires (think WTB Rangers) but can also play nicely with 26 x 2.3″ tires, or up to 27.5 x 2.6″. The frame uses a 27.2mm seatpost, non-boost hub spacing (12×142mm/15×100mm), and a 73mm BSA threaded bottom bracket. Each steel frame comes with a matching Stridsland Barnacle Lite fork and weighs in at 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) including a large frame, uncut fork, axles, and hardware.
Pre-orders are open now and are expected to arrive by late March. The price in the EU (inc. VAT) is €1,475, and the overseas price (ex. tax) is $1,280 USD. The Beachcomber Steel is being offered in two finish options: a raw with a durable clear powder coat or a stunning aquatic eggplant paint job. The frame and fork are made in Taiwan, and Stridsland offers worldwide shipping from Denmark. Learn more at Stridsland.com.
Stridsland Titanium Beachcomber
The Titanium Beachcomber shares most of the same specs as the steel version but has a 31.6mm seatpost and a double butted Grade 9 Ti-3AI-2.5V titanium construction that Stridsland says weighs less and rides more comfortably compared to the steel version. You also have the option between a matching titanium fork (total weight 3.25 kilograms) or a steel fork (total weight 3.65 kilograms).
The Titanium Beachcomber pre-order is open now, and frames are expected to arrive in June/July. The price in the EU (inc. VAT) is €2,485 with the steel fork and €2,780 with the titanium fork. The overseas price (ex. tax) is $2,155 USD with the steel fork and $2,385 USD with the titanium fork. Check it out at Stridsland.com.
