The new Tailfin Rear Top Tube Bag is yet another cleverly designed bag from the UK-based bike bag brand and one that has its origins in a classically English setting. Find details on Tailfin’s latest product and some insights from designer Ed Cowan here…
The Tailfin Rear Top Tube Bag is a small but mighty addition to the brand’s line of well-designed bags, but this time with a quaint, interesting background story. Speaking to the designer Ed Cowan at Bespoked a few weeks ago, he imparted on me that the bag shape and storage philosophy was loosely based around an English mainstay: the Tesco meal deal. As referenced in yet another well-made, lighthearted promotional video, the triangular rear top tube bag has all the hallmarks of a Tailfin product.

With carbon rods to ensure consistent zipper tracking, a funnel for excess moisture to spill out of near the bottom of the bag, and two sizes optimized for road/gravel and mountain bikes, Tailfin has made sure to address every possible detail with this seemingly insignificant addition to their lineup. The promotional material also feels right at home with the Tailfin brand of communication, as it straddles the line between humor and product info exceptionally well. Given the length and width of the design, it also features a slightly redesigned strap attachment system for extra security. Retailing at $80 USD, the Tailfin Rear Top Tube Bag comes in 0.8 and 0.9L sizes.
