Durango, Colorado, pedal manufacturer Tectonic Components is back with a brand-new pedal model made from a recycled carbon-fiber-reinforced nylon material. Check out the Tectonic Components Alibi Pedals here…

We first learned about Colorado’s Tectonic Components a few years back when they released their flagship product, the Altar Pedal. It gained some attention thanks to its lightweight carbon fiber-reinforced nylon construction, large concave platform, and easily serviceable internals. I had many good things to say about them in my review, and ultra-endurance athlete Alexandera Houchin even trusted them during the 2022 Colorado Trail Race.

Since then, Tectonic has pivoted away from the carbon-reinforced nylon pedals, and the Altar V2 is now made in Durango from a lightweight aluminum body. They are returning to the original construction with their newest pedal, the Alibi. The new Tectonic Components Alibi pedals are made from a unique blend of recovered ocean plastic and post-industrial waste carbon fiber. According to Tectonic, more than 50 percent of the pedal is made from recycled materials, and the result is a pedal that’s both stronger and lighter than aluminum.

The Alibi pedals have a 125 x 110mm platform (LxW), 2.5mm dual concavity, and an inboard bushing/outboard bearing spindle system. The pedals use Tectonic’s patented traction pins that are secured via a side-loading bolt, allowing them to be removed in either direction so they won’t get stripped like threaded pins.

The Alibi pedals weigh 395 grams (14 ounces) per pair, come with a limited lifetime warranty, and cost $100. Unlike the Altar V2 pedals, which are made in Durango, the Alibi pedals are made in Taiwan, as they felt it was important to offer their pedals at a more approachable price point.
