The new Chris King Ti Dropset Headset is the latest addition to the storied component manufacturer’s lineup of titanium headsets. For more on why they’ve decided to offer internal bearing headset designed bikes a titanium headset, read on…

As a new addition to their headset lineup, the Chris King Ti Dropset Headset is the final piece of the bling-oriented puzzle for folks with bikes that feature internal headset bearings. While the esteemed, Oregon-based component manufacturer already offers the DropSet headset in alloy, they figured it was high time to give those same customers a titanium offering. Like all Chris King headsets, the titanium DropSet features their GripLock bearing cap, which preloads the headset independently of clamping onto the steerer. A feature designed to retain preload while combatting load spikes from large hits and heavy braking.

These Chris King Ti Dropset Headsets are available in limited quantities, with offerings in their DropSet 2, 3, 4, and 6 models. The Chris King Ti Dropset Headsets come with a matching titanium bolt and retail for $300 USD. While I can appreciate both the engineering and manufacturing quality of Chris King headsets, the creation of such an expensive component when ones of a similar quality are made for so much less seems superfluous. But perhaps I’m not their target demographic. Either way, it’s a cool, well-made option for those looking to lighten their headset-focused load.
