In “The Science of Speed is Simple,” Tailfin dives deep into the development of their latest product, the Speedpack. Watch the British brand’s latest informative behind-the-scenes video below…
Tailfin’s latest behind-the-scenes video, The Science of Speed is Simple, provides a detailed look at the product development cycle of the recently released Tailfin Speedpack. Dating back to the product’s inception, this mini-documentary is another highly polished look at how the brand creates products they believe fill gaps in the bikepacking bag market.
With early iterations tested by Josh Ibbett, Lachlan Morton, and Chris Dijkmans during some of the most challenging and longest bikepacking races and events in the world, it’s interesting to see the thought process and iterative design that has emerged from real-world, top-level experience. From off-the-cuff conversations with their athletes to complex CAD work, the Speedpack is more than just an addition to the Tailfin lineup.
The video stitches together what eagle-eyed viewers in the bikepacking space see over the years out in public, the brand’s iconic white R&D bags, with detailed design information that comes together in some of the best final products in the space. From broken stitching and changes in material choices to better serve specific purposes, to creating brand-new design elements like the variable-length, angle-adjustment system at the rear to better suit full-suspension bikes, The Science of Speed is Simple makes it clear how much thought goes into these products.
