With the launch of the Dubnital, Trinotal, and Magnotal, Continental has three fresh mountain bike tires set to tackle any terrain. For more details about these varied offerings from the German tire manufacturer, read on…

Launching today, Continental has three new mountain bike tires set to handle all manner of trail conditions. Sadly, these new offerings are set to replace my beloved Race King, Cross King, and Mountain King ProTection models, but they’re said to deliver significant upgrades for XC, downcountry, and all-mountain riders. Let’s take a look at the fresh set of rubber from Continental.

Dubnital: Master of Speed

What looks to be the replacement for the Race King (RIP) is the Dubnital, engineered for dry-to-damp conditions and ideal for rocky, hardpacked, and medium-loose soils. It’s built to meet the needs of XC and downcountry riders and looks to have a pretty similar chevron and tread pattern to the Race King, with the new tire being made up of what is said to be a faster, more efficient compound. Only time will tell!

Trinotal: Grip and Control

Designed for versatility, Trinotal is said to excel in dry-to-wet conditions. A solid choice for XC and downcountry riders, the Trinotal tire offers grip and stability, with an aggressive tread pattern and solid compound. Though it was all but impossible to find a Cross King in the last few years, the new Trinotal tire replaces that model from their lineup.

Magnotal: The All-Rounder

Magnotal is an aggressive tire for mountain and trail riders seeking a balance between performance and control. Designed for all conditions, the Magnotal is supposed to offer solid handling in hard, loose, and muddy soils. A direct successor to the Mountain King, this all-rounder tire looks to fill the gap between gravity and XC/DC riding.

Pricing for Continental’s new mountain bike tires starts at €66.95 ($75). Each tire comes in two distinct compounds, Grip and Soft, and is set for specific use cases like downhill trail descending or cross-country usage. Though I’m sad to see the Race King go, the Dubnital looks pretty much identical to my favorite tire over the last few years. If all they did was improve the compound, I’m on board.
