The new Tout Terrain Outback Xplore GT II features an electronic Pinion Smart.Shift drivetrain, steel frame, and clearance for up to 29 x 2.6″ tires. Dig into the details on the German brand’s latest release here…
Tout Terrain’s latest release is a new take on their Outback Xplore MTB platform designed “for the world of ultra riding and racing,” as they put it. The new Tout Terrain Outback Xplore GT II features a familiar platform, but the most obvious update is the change to Tout Terrain’s GT-style drop handlebars and electronic shifting using Pinion’s Smart.Shift gearbox system.
The Outback Xplore GT is built around a steel frame, the Pinion C1.12i Smart.Shift gearbox, and a Gates Carbon Drive belt. It comes specced with Tout Terrain’s Longhorn drop bar, which features a 440mm width with 35º flare. The frame and fork have clearance for 29 x 2.6″ tires, but complete builds come with 29 x 2.35″ Vittoria Mezcals for a fast-rolling, low-maintenance adventure rig.
The frame has fully external cable routing and plenty of mounting points, including rack mounts, three-pack mounts on the fork legs, three-pack downtube bosses, mounts under the top tube, as well as top tube bosses for bolt-on bags. To accommodate the belt, the driveside chainstay and seatstay split at the axle. It is available in four frame sizes, all featuring a 68° head tube angle, 65mm bottom bracket drop, and 462mm chainstays.
