Tout Terrain just updated their Pinion-equipped Outback with more wheel size options, clearance for 3.0″ tires, a revised geometry, and more. Find all the essential details on the new Tout Terrain Outback Xplore II here…
Part of their X.Over lineup, the Outback is Tout Terrain’s versatile, all-round mountain bike. It was updated in 2021 with more component options but has otherwise remained relatively unchanged until now. According to Tout Terrain, the redesigned Outback Xplore II shares the same “trailblazing, off-road traveler” DNA, but it gets a few promising updates that should make it even more versatile for different types of off-road riding.
Like its predecessor, the Tout Terrain Outback Xplore II is built around a steel frame, a Pinion C.1 gearbox, and a carbon Gates drive belt. They made a few changes to the frame, however. The interior now comes treated with an ED black coating for better rust prevention, and they’ve also added top tube bosses and a three-pack of mounts under the downtube to mount a cargo cage. The rear dropouts have also been updated with new a new forged design that should make re-mounting the wheel easier.
The Outback Xplore II has more clearance to accommodate wider tires ranging from 2.6″ to 3.0″, and they offer it in both 27.5″ and 29″ configurations. The geometry has also been tweaked for more stability and control while riding loaded over loose, technical terrain. Here’s the full geometry chart showing all four sizes:
