Velo Orange Chessie Gravel Bike Pre-Sale

With frames landing in the US soon, the Velo Orange Chessie gravel bike is now available via pre-sale through the Velo Orange website. Given their limited quantities, this is your chance to get in on Velo Orange’s latest gravel-oriented offering. Though we already teased the bike in our Philly Bike Expo coverage, let’s dive into the specifics of this aluminum alloy monster gravel bike.

Priced at $950 and built around a double-butted aluminum frame and a triple-butted chromoly fork, “Chessie” is the kind of bike made for big rides, bikepacking adventures, and pretty much anything in between. With ample tire clearance (up to 700 x 50mm or 650 x 2.25”), tons of mounting points on both the frame and fork, and approachable geometry, Chessie is a modern “all-rounder.” The bike also has sliding dropouts that afford users 15mm of adjustment to their chainstay length in geared mode or a native ease of adjustment when running single speed.

Using a tapered headtube, Chessie also has the capacity to run most modern carbon forks. Complete with external routing and cable guides on the down tube, dropper post routing on its 27.2 seat tube, an ovalized top tube, flat mount brake standards with clips and guides across the entire length of the frame, it’s rife with creature comforts and versatility. Per Velo Orange, Chessie framesets are available now for pre-sale and are expected to begin shipping in mid-to-late June 2025. Quantities are limited and will be fulfilled in order of reservation.

I won’t spoil too much, but I’ve had this bike since September of last year and have ridden it pretty much everywhere. Eagle-eyed readers may have spotted this bike in product reviews and in the background of other shoots, but rest assured, there will be a comprehensive review of the bike coming to the site shortly.
