Continuing our Monday morning tour of the world in three parts, today’s Weekend Snapshot highlights reader-submitted rides in a handful of spectacular countries. We’re off to Montenegro, Canada, and Estonia this time around, and you can find a peek at what three folks were up to over the weekend below. Weekend Snapshot

Over 70 hearty bikepackers recently tackled the annual Buckshot Bikepacking Race. As they set off on the 430-kilometer course, they were met head-on by some of the wildest weather a May long weekend could possibly muster, including snow, hail, torrential rain, and freezing temperatures. The dramatic weather painted a spectacular lightshow across the interior grasslands and forged some truly unforgettable riding memories for everyone involved.

Weekend Snapshot

With no plans, we set off for a long weekend of riding via a ferry from Helsinki, Finland to Tallinn, Estonia. From Tallinn, we followed the coast all the way to Haapsalu and put the bikes on a bus and back to Tallinn and a ferry to Helsinki. On the way, we followed sections of Eurovelo 10 and 13 cycle routes, but also sections of of the Baltic Coastal Hiking Trail and some “lets take that road.” We saw forests, swamps, eagles, cranes, small villages, and lovely seaside. We spent one night camping on by a bog and the next night by a small public beach. It was a nice 200-kilometer route and a mostly care-free ride.

In this photo, we weren’t far crossing the border to Kosovo, but a little rain shower was awaiting us first. Luckily, a little mountain hut with a fire warmed our hands and souls. Living the best life we can!
