Our readers worldwide have been out taking advantage of snow-free mountains to pedal various high-elevation routes close to home, and we’ve loved seeing the resulting photos. Today’s edition of Weekend Snapshots showcases three more mountain vignettes. This time, we share a couple of scenes from the United States and one from the beautiful Dolomites in Italy. Auronzo di Cadore, Italy

This photo was taken at the end of one of the only days in which we had clear, sunny skies and sweeping vistas. Most of the time, our views of the Dolomites were obscured by rain and fog. This day, however, was incredible start to finish. It was truly breathtaking to see the grandeur of these mountains via bicycle. Topping it off with some delicious pasta and wine couldn’t be beat!

A good friend and I recently took on the Thunder in Paradise loop featured here on BIKEPACKING.com. It was everything we hoped it would be: hot, remote, exhausting, and incredibly beautiful. We were fortunate to have ample water still running at the higher elevations as temps pushed into the high 90s in the afternoon, and even more fortunate after a long day of riding to sit down for a burger and beer(s) at the Beaver Lodge in Atlanta. 10/10 would highly recommend!

When the lupine reaches its peak bloom, we love to head up into a nearby mountain park to camp for a short overnighter. Here, we soak in the visual beauty and heady scent of my favorite wildflowers while taking in the stunning views of the rugged Elk Mountains.
