Bikepacking the Elks Traverse (video)

In our latest video, Neil takes us along for a ride on one of his favorite local routes out of Crested Butte, Colorado. Follow along and learn more about the Elks Traverse route here…

Having lived in Crested Butte, Colorado, for much of his bikepacking career, Neil Beltchenko—host of our YouTube channel—has explored the far corners of the surrounding high mountains. And over the years he’s developed a few favorites. Last year he shared the Tilton Traverse and today he released the Elks Traverse. On his last ride, Neil shot this video to document the route and give folks a taste of what it’s like. Watch it below and scroll down to find more info about the route.

With 8,300 feet of climbing over 56 miles, the Elks Traverse loop is a short but stout route in the Elk Mountains of Colorado. It’s highlighted by high alpine passes and lakes, views of 13 and 14 thousand foot peaks, and extremely rewarding but challenging miles. View the full route guide here.
