We arrived in this beautiful area after two and half months of bikepacking and traveling through the Balkans, Georgia, and eastern Türkiye. The riding here has by far been the best on the whole trip, even if it required some hike-a-bike. The icy season came to the mountains, so we are on our way out to the sea for some sun. Thanks for the route!
Big Bend National Park, Texas

Last week, I went solo bikepacking for five days in Big Bend National Park. Cycling amid the imposing landscape, sleeping under the stars, seeing coyotes and javelinas, and swimming in the Rio Grande were absolutely magical. The last two days, however, were the most strenuous I have ever experienced. Due to the ongoing drought, the road conditions were severely deteriorated and so sandy that it felt I was pushing my bike through beach sand. Progress was slow, but I was well-prepared and able to filter the river water, so I was never in danger of running out. It’s not for the faint of heart or ill-prepared, but Big Bend is always worth the effort.

A dream came true, and sitting underneath a Joshua tree, I feel like I’ve crossed the length of the USA just to see this unique and stunning tree. This country is incredibly beautiful and diverse!
