Weekend fatbike trip to a remote cabin using the local snowmobile trails. The journey was as good as the time at the cabin!
Oaxaca, Mexico

Virginia and I spent the weekend high in Oaxaca’s Sierra Norte at the Centro Ecoturístico La Cumbre Ixtepeji, a lovely community-operated ecotourism camp. Not only is La Cumbre home to an excellent comedor serving the tastiest chocolate de agua Oaxaqueño I’ve had, but it’s also nestled at the base of the challenging enduro Parque Ecoturistico Ixtepeji, offering some of the best purpose-built senderos in Mexico. We spent Saturday riding several of our favorite trails in the park, then descended a new-to-us “long trail” called Donají back to the city on Sunday.
Sweden

Finally, the ice came. We had been waiting for it in Stockholm. Just because it’s cold doesn’t mean there needs to be snow. Instead, what we get is black ice. The ice is clear, but the black colour comes from the deep dark waters that lie beneath. With studded tyres, minus 10°C temps, and blue skies, we had no excuse but to ride the Marvikarna network of lakes in Sörmland. The ice was thick, the waterfalls were well frozen, and riding was about as good as it gets.

We’ll be selecting three photos per week to feature in Weekend Snapshot. Send yours along for consideration, and if it’s selected, we’ll be in touch! Note: We prefer 3:2 ratio landscape-oriented photos.
