The Monkey Puzzle Trail ended up being more challenging than expected, but it turned out to be one of the highlights on my trip from Alaska to Patagonia. Yes, I saw plenty of volcanoes on my trip, but rarely did I feel so close to them, zig-zagging from one to the other riding on volcanic gravel, surrounded by the majestic araucaria trees.

The Big Ship Atlantis in the ship yard on a romantic winter ramble. A thermos of hot chocolate, a warm Norwegian wool sweater, and miles of snowy bandit trails are a perfect reminder that there’s warmth and good in the world and its great to be out on two wheels with nature.

Mexico

Weekend Snapshot

This is my second time riding up the highest motorable road in Mexico as part of the Vuelta de Citlaltépetl. On this occasion, Mason and I were treated to a celestial cloud inversion on our way up to the top of Sierra Negra, at around 4,600 metres (15,100 feet). Clouds drifted and swirled all around us as if we were looking out of the window of an airplane. After a few mixed-weather days on our circuito, including some heavy rain, this view alone made all our meteorologic toils more than worth it!
