We didn’t think our first bikepacking trip with our 3.5-year-old daughter Anouk would go so smoothly! We planned it at the last minute, changed her bike just before, and rented our material there—the perfect recipe for disaster. It was a wonderful trip with breathtaking scenery, beautiful weather, a lot of swimming in the Baltic Sea and Anouk wanting to cycle 10 to 15 kilometers a day, much to our delight. The kindness of the Swedish people, but above all the cycling infrastructure, made this trip incredible.

A great way to start the weekend is an after work overnighter. Take a friend. Pick a spot. Ride. Stop for food on the way. Maybe get caught up in heavy rain. Ride to camp. Eat. Talk. Enjoy the glorious sunset and the sounds of nature. Sleep. Enjoy the sunrise with coffee. Eat. Pack up. Ride back home in time for lunch. Now you are fueled up for the activities and responsibilities of the weekend, like putting together a baby stroller.

After a few thousand feet of climbing on the day, the descent from Deadman Hill down to Sand Creek and beyond on the Red Feather Ramble published here on BIKEPACKING.com is absolutely glorious. Six of us completed the loop over three days and two nights out.
