Colorado, USA

It’s winter now, but posted on my refrigerator door is this photo of my 1984 Ritchey Annapurna resting at the top of Engineer Pass. A great reminder of the flexibility of a 3x drivetrain and the importance of fresh brake pads. I always find myself returning to these alpine roads, as nothing quite compares for me.
Spain

When my friend Jan and I set off on a multi-day journey along the Altravesur, we had no idea we would be facing such demanding terrain. Andalusia looked as if it had just been hit by a disaster after heavy rains and flooding. To reach this view of Mount Torrecilla, we had to cross several flooded roads and swollen streams, and endure a fair amount of pushing our bikes. It was a good day.
California, USA

Emily and I are currently making our way south in search of warmer temps and sunshine. As is becoming tradition, we found ourselves in Bishop, California, for a much-needed break from driving, so I jumped at the opportunity to stretch my legs and go for a quick ride. After what felt like months of testing rain gear, I can’t describe how nice it felt to put some shorts on and gaze up at the snow-covered Sierra Nevada Mountains.
