The bluebells carpeted the woodland this weekend. We pedaled out of Sheffield for an overnighter of trail hunting, spring bird spotting, and chocolately porridge in the Peak District.

Spent a Saturday morning exploring livestock and game trails along the St. Johns River in central Florida. Free-range cattle and wildlife are abundant out here, including loads of alligators and feral pigs, and conditions range from lightly trodden singletrack to post-holing hike-a-bike through ephemerally dry marsh.

I finally got to ride the GranGarda Gravel Route, an astonishing and beautiful experience. The weather was mixed, which actually worked in our favor; the lack of heat was a relief, and the clouds and fog added a nice atmosphere. However, we didn’t expect snow this time of year. Fresh snow began at around 1,500 meters, so we adjusted our route a bit since the snow fell just as we planned to ride along Monte Baldo. Nevertheless, the alternative route was equally beautiful, and the snow added a stunning touch to the spring landscape.
