Catskills, New York, USA
By Sid Mot
Late-summer goldenrods and asters brought a magical, fairy-like quality to the hillsides of the Catskills this week. On a route that dips in and out of New York state forests and New York City watersheds, this rock wall reminded me that places now “forever wild” used to be people’s homes and working lands.
Valle d’Aosta, Italy
By David Lamon
Amazing autumn colors this weekend in the Italian and French Alps. I rode the Rutor’s Retreat bikepacking route, and oh my, what an amazing adventure! September is always the perfect time to go up here. Some really steep sections, but always worth it!
Salter Fell, Lancashire, UK
By Daniel Jones
Big skies, blooming heather, and miles of chunky gravel across Salter Fell. A milestone day out, seeing 10-year-old Jamie step up to genuine backcountry Lancashire riding, navigating the steep gradients and exposed fells and punching way above his weight both up and down. As a parent, it was heart-in-mouth watching him descend at times.
