Veneto, Italy

By Olaf Stofferis
We encountered a lot of steep and long climbs while riding the Veneto Divide, especially on this day. I always hope that a long climb will result in a rewarding decent. After consecutively climbing 22 kilometers in the blazing Italian sun, we finally reached the top of Monte Grappa. The climb took us well over four hours to complete, so I stated that the way down had to be awesome. At the top, we enjoyed a panini and a beer and then started on our way down. This turned out to be one of the best experiences we ever had on a bike: a beautiful singletrack-heavy descent with trails seemingly leading into infinity and breathtaking views of the Dolomites in the distance. After reaching the bottom of the valley, we didn’t speak a word about the climb, like we forgot it ever happened.

I’m on the European Divide Trail now for 80 days, riding from Portugal to Norway. I took this photo on my birthday with a tripod and timer. Always a challenge! Especially with the fierce mosquitos in this area. I’m looking forward to the most northern part of Europe and to reach the Arctic Ocean.
Innsbruck, Austria

On our first overnighter, we were still figuring out how to manage all the stuff and fit everything on our full-suspension bikes. After a long a ride up and packs not fitting the way we wanted, the mountain welcomed us with a pretty cold night. But all the struggle led to a beautiful morning with a near-endless trail. We are hooked and can’t wait for future adventures!
