Always hunting for the perfect cup of coffee at home and on the go, Lucas is calling on AeroPress users from around our global community to share their favorite recipes and brewing tips. Can we crowd-source the ultimate technique? Contribute your input here…

After nearly two decades of obsessively experimenting with various coffee-brewing methods and contraptions, I can safely say nothing beats an AeroPress as my one brewer to rule them all. Whether at home or waking up to a view from my tent, it’s the easiest and most reliable method I’ve found for making a great cup of coffee, and not for lack of trying to find alternatives.

  • AeroPress XL Review

Outing myself as having a problem, I own the original AeroPress, AeroPress Go, AeroPress XL, and fancy new AeroPress Premium. Hands down, my pick for the best value and versatility is the original AeroPress. It strikes the ideal balance of cost, size, capacity, and weight. I can hardly imagine someone designing something better, but curiosity always has me on the lookout.

AeroPress XL Review

Despite landing on the AeroPress as my favorite daily brewer at home and while bikepacking, I haven’t figured out my favorite recipe. For years, I’ve always used 195°F water (or a little shy of boiling at camp) and brewed for an even two minutes, but I’ve recently switched to two and a half minutes, and I’m happy with the results so far (though I’ve had the two best bags of the year back to back, so the time variable is still unproven). I almost always brew with the inverted method, but the recipe I’ve been using for the last few months calls for 16 grams of coffee and 240 grams of water (15:1 ratio). That’s enough volume to require the traditional right-side-up method of brewing, and it yields just the right amount of coffee to be satisfying without feeling like I need to brew a second cup right after.

AeroPress users, assuming a medium-fine grind, what recipe have you had the most success with? Do you have a simplified method for brewing at camp? In the name finding the perfect cup, I’d love to exchange ideas and recipes below! Bonus points if you have photos of your setup in action.
