Wren in Alaska released two interesting products this week. First, a 32-inch wheelset in collaboration with Velocity USA. And second, a front rack for their Inverted Suspension forks. Learn all about the new Blunt-Nonsense Wheels and Wanderlust Rack here…
It seems 32-inch bikes are really becoming a thing, but wheels for them are currently in short supply. There are only a few production 32-inch wheels available, and the latest is a collaboration between Wren and Velocity USA. The Blunt-Nonsense Wheels are built up around Velocity’s US-made Blunt 35 Rim, which was released in a 32-inch version this fall. The Blunt 35 is a 35mm external/30.2mm internal width mountain bike rim suitable for 2″ to 2.6″ tires.
Wren has paired the rims with their own chromoly hubs that feature a steel star ratchet and symmetrical hub flanges for stronger, cleaner wheel builds. To increase stiffness and rigidity for these monster wheels, they build all their Blunt-Nonsense wheels with 36 spokes in a 4-cross pattern rather than the more commonly seen 32-spoke/3-cross configuration. Nipples are brass with a black finish. The Blunt-Nonsense Wheels are available in 32-inch or 29-inch sizes to accommodate 32-inch mullet setups. Front wheels start at $450 USD, and complete rear wheels start at $825. Head to WrenSports.com to learn more.
Also released this week is the new Wren Wanderlust Rack. Brazed in Anchorage, Alaska, the Wanderlust Rack is a premium Carradice-style bag support rack made from 4130 Chromoly steel. The top of the rack is designed to support any handlebar bag with webbing or straps on its base, and once the rack is installed, the bag can be removed/installed quickly.
It’s designed specifically for Wren’s Inverted Suspension forks, clamping to the fork’s upper chassis to reduce unsprung weight. The Wanderlust Rack packs down nearly flat for storage or travel, and the 110mm rack variant weighs ~420 grams. Racks require a 2-3 week processing window before shipment. The Wanderlust Rack costs $300 USD. Learn more at WrenSports.com.
