Congrats to KP and AH!
by Logan WattsCongratulations to Karin Pocock and Alexandera Houchin for finishing the women’s race in third and fourth place, respectively. The two rode in together and Karin eventually took a narrow lead, as Alexandera explained: “We rode it in together! However Karen started a wave behind me (15 min later) so we agreed she beat me by 15 minutes for 3rd.”

Trout Fire and Buck Fire in New Mexico
by Logan WattsAccording to race organizer Matthew Lee, the New Mexico fire situation is going to require a last-minute decision, but right now, the leaders are continuing on as it sounds like the fires are smoldering in that region and aren’t a grave concern. Still, Matthew has boots on the ground to scope out alternatives in real time. Also, you may have noticed a bunch of new pace dots, including Austin Killips’s “Fastest Overall ITT” time, among others.

Nathalie Baillon is First Woman to Ovando, Montana
by Miles ArbourPhotos by Kathy Schoendoerfer
Nathalie Baillon of France was the first woman to reach the Blackfoot Angler shop in Ovando, Montana this evening. The shop’s owner, Kathy Schoendoerfer, said she stopped for dinner and then continued on and has now reached Lincoln, around 30 miles away.
Lael Wilcox arrived in Ovando shortly after Natalie, and it’s the sixth time Kathy has greeted her at the shop. Lael also pushed on and should be arriving in Lincoln later tonight. Both Lael and Nathalie are well ahead of Lael’s 2025 record, and have been riding neck and neck the entire way south from Canada.

by Miles ArbourPhotos by Kathy Schoendoerfer
Nine hours ahead of Justinas Leveika’s record-setting 2024 Tour Divide run, Robin Gemperle of Switzerland was the first rider to reach the small town of Ovando, Montana earlier this morning. Ovanda sits at around mile-530, and is home to the Blackfoot Angler shop and its owner, Kathy Schoendoerfer.
According to Kathy, Robin arrived at 2:45 a.m, had a five hour nap in the tipi there, and was off again at 8:20 a.m. after stuffing a sandwich into his mouth from the market. Kathy explains, “He has the most minimalist bike I’ve seen. And despite the ease in which he seems to be crushing it……he is having problems finding places to sleep.”
