Vittoria’s latest tire, the Syerra, is a highly durable downcountry tire for mixed terrain that looks like it might be an excellent do-everything bikepacking tire. Check it out here…

Downcountry isn’t quite full-on downhill riding, or pure cross-country, but somewhere in between. We’ve seen more than a few bike brands release full-suspension bikes that fall into this category, making it about the downs just as much as the ups. Rigs in this category can be sensible choices from a bikepacking perspective, as they’re not as heavy as a downhill/enduro bike and also not as twitchy as a cross-country bike designed for racing.

Vittoria’s latest tire option caters to downcountry lovers, combining the DNA of their Agarro and Mazza tires into a versatile, speedy tire that’s suitable for a wide range of surfaces and terrain. The Vittoria Syerra is based around a fast-rolling centre tread pattern and generously sized side knobs for a pronounced corner bite and quick engagement. The Syerra uses a tubeless-ready casing, supported by their Anti Pinch Flat sidewall inserts, making it much more durable than a classic cross-country tire without a noticeable effect on weight.
