Arkansas High Country Race Partners with City of Fayetteville

After a successful inaugural event, the Arkansas High Country Race is back for 2020/21 and is partnering with the city of Fayetteville to provide an even better experience for the riders. For the next two years, the Arkansas High Country Race will start and finish in the historic downtown square of Fayetteville, Arkansas. The new start location sits right along the race route and provides access to lodging and delicious food within walking distance of the grand depart.

I had the pleasure of stopping by Fayetteville a few weeks ago and can attest to the strengths of the location—it has a great vibe and is well suited for a grand depart. Details for the 2020 Arkansas High Country Race are already coming in, so be sure to check out the event listing to learn more.

I’m interested to see how many other self-supported events are starting to partner with local cities to increase exposure and boost attendance. It’s clear that these types of events can have a positive effect on local tourism, and partnerships like these are particularly interesting as self-supported bikepacking events appear more mainstream and less underground.
