Our Budget Bikepacking Build-Off Challenge has proven that there are endless ways to piece together a bike, bags, and camping gear for under $500 to get out for a night under the stars. From DIY denim bags to Facebook Marketplace finds, some creativity is often required, but it’s certainly not impossible.
The Peak Wings YouTube channel took the challenge a step further by putting together a complete bikepacking rig (camping gear not included) for just $100. After a run to the dollar and hardware stores, they took DIY bikepacking bags to a whole new level with a turkey roaster front rack, hot dog grill cargo cages, cutting board panniers, and DIY tarp bags. They also put their creation to the test during a short overnighter on Vancouver Island and are planning to give the bike away after reaching 1,000 subscribers, which they did!
