There were so many hilarious April Fools’ posts yesterday that we couldn’t help but publish a second roundup of some of the funniest April foolery from the bike and outdoor industries. From technical bindle bags to the Surly Detrackulator, enjoy part two here…
Continuing our theme of bag makers and bike industry folks going above and beyond for April Fools’ Day, we decided to extend our April Fools’ Day roundup with a second roundup. If you haven’t seen it already, go check out part one here, and continue reading for more silly (and sometimes incredibly clever) April Fools’ announcements from around the web below.
The Surly Detrackulator
If you’re the type of person who’s always being left behind on your old singlespeed bike and getting laughed at for not having the latest SRAM Transmission drivetrain, then the new Surly Detrackulator is for you. Dreamed up by none other than Bicycle Pubes, the Detrackulator is the cheapest and easiest way to convert your old 1×1 (or other singlespeed Surly with horizontal sliding dropouts) to a 12-speed, hill-eating, UDH-equipped, go-anywhere bike. The Detrackulator lengthens your chainstays, increases tire clearance, and is compatible with SRAM 12/13-speed Transmission. Oh yeah, and it’s only $666.66 USD. Check it out here.
Ortlieb Bark-Pack
We love to see folks bringing their dogs out on bikepacking trips, but there’s always been one thing that didn’t quite sit well, and it’s that the dog never carries anything. Dogs have to pull their weight, right? The Ortlieb Bark-Pack solves this conundrum as the world’s first waterproof, adventure-ready backpack for dogs. It has adjustable shoulder straps, a roll-top closure, and will keep all your dog’s treats dry in the harshest of conditions.
Fair Bicycle Internal Pressure Adjust (IPA) Technology
Did you know that the internal pressure of your rim has a massive influence on the ride quality and performance of your wheel? When’s the last time your adjusted your internal rim pressure? Fair Bicycle’s new Internal Pressure Adjust (IPA) Technology allows the inner pressure to be adjusted, which in turn adjusts spoke tension by 50 percent at its maximum operation pressure of 6bar (90psi). As a bonus, due to the captive nipple design and the airtight inner rim air chamber, the rim bed is fully tubeless from the go, so no tubeless tape needed!

Rodeo Labs Frames Have Too Much Clearance
It’s official. Rodeo Labs frames have too much clearance, and they’re getting ahead of this issue with a special edition Trail Donkey V4 that features less clearance and more all-road elegance. But seriously, how much tire clearance does a gravel bike need?
XXXL Voile Strap
Nano Straps, step aside. The new XXXL Voile Strap levels up your cargo strap needs with 96″ of pure utility, doubles as a tow-strap for mid-sized SUVs, and offers nearly limitless compatibility.

Skratch Labs MARATHONG
Ultra-endurance athletes seeking the top-of-the-line aerodynamic performance will be excited to hear that Skratch Labs, best known for their hydration mixes, is officially entering the apparel game with the new MARATHONG. The MARATHONG is a peformance cargo thong that holds up to four small water bottles and looks perfect for keeping hydrated while also maintaining optimal aerodynamics. Get yours here.

Strava Evil Athlete Intelligence
Strava users will have noticed the regrettable addition of AI into their workout analysis features on the app over the last few months. Providing a small summary on what the activity entailed, Strava’s athlete intelligence has largely been a minor, inconsequential addition to the activity tracking app du jour. However, it seems our worst fears have been confirmed as the athlete intelligence feature has started to gain sentience with a mean streak. Previewed yesterday as a beta test in playfully roasting workouts, let’s hope they keep Evil Athlete Intelligence in product development.
Target Composites Cannondale SuperTwelve EVO
Unless you’re going custom, the world of high-quality tandems is somewhat limited. Having perused more than a few “Rigs of” on our site, you come to know the common culprits. To say those typical tandems are high performance would, perhaps, be a stretch, but you’re asking a lot of a bike meant for two! Double the load, double the forces; how can a manufacturer really hope to squeeze high performance out of a tandem? Enter the Target Composites Cannondale SuperTwelve EVO. Designed in tandem with the design that has made for some of the fastest WorldTour pros, the Cannondale SuperTwelve EVO is a real, carbon fiber tandem made from two Cannondale SuperSix EVOs. It doesn’t get much cooler than that.
