For the CRAFTED bike show, Cane Creek commissioned a local artist to hand-paint a dozen Helm MKII Forks. Continuing their Artist Series, these suspension forks aren’t just static works but moving canvases. Learn more about the unique pieces below…
To bring something unique to CRAFTED, a new bike show in the American Southeast, Cane Creek commissioned a series of hand-painted suspension forks. The Artist Series Helm MKII Forks are unique suspension forks hand-painted by local artist Sam Moody, also known as SlimePup Press. Each fork features cool, colorful designs painted along the lowers of each 29″ Helm MKII, with standard stanchions and crowns consistent with other MKII models.
Sam earned her BFA in Printmaking from UNCA in 2014 and runs a small printmaking shop in Asheville, where she focuses on relief printing and wood carving. Sam drew design inspiration from different sources across the forks, with some inspired by local flora and fauna and others featuring cool geometric designs unlike anything else on the market. These MKIIs are fully functional and safe to ride, but the paint is far more fragile than the standard factory option, so you’d need to ride with caution if you want to preserve the work and use it on trails. The brand brought 15 forks to the show, but sold a few and is down to just 12. Every fork is numbered and ships with a card signed by Sam.
The Artist Series Helm MKII forks are available at the same price as the standard 29″ MKII, $1,100, and can be purchased directly from Cane Creek. Once a design sells out, it’s gone forever. So, if you have your heart set on one of these 12 remaining forks, now’s the time.
