The Chris King MTN30 AL wheels feature a new US-made alloy rim, Chris King hubs, 27.5″, 29″, and mullet options, and are available at a more approachable price point than their carbon counterparts. Learn more here…
Until today, Chris King has only offered high-end carbon rims and wheelsets. The new MTN30 AL wheelset is the Portland brand’s first alloy wheel, designed as an option to upgrade or replace original wheelsets at a more approachable price. It offers increased durability compared to Chris King’s carbon wheels and is still made in the USA, promising the same reliability and serviceability that Chris King products are known for.
The Chris King MTN30 AL has a 30mm internal width, 32-hole spoke count, precision-sleeved construction, and a pronounced rim bead that improves sidewall protection. It’s designed for trail and aggressive all-mountain riding and comes in 29 “, 27.5” and “mullet” mixed set configurations. MTN30 AL wheelsets are built in-house at the Chris King factory in Oregon using Sapim Race spokes and King Boost Centerlock, Boost 6-Bolt, or Superboost hubs. Rims come with a two-year limited warranty against defects, a Lifetime Crash Replacement Program for the original owner, and hubs come with their usual King Lifetime Warranty.
Rim weights are 595 grams for 29″ and 565 grams for 27.5″. Complete wheel weights start at 2,080 grams (MX, Centerlock, brass nipples), and complete wheelsets are available in all the Chris King hub colors. The Chris King MTN30 AL wheels cost $1,250, which is just over $1,000 less than their carbon wheels.
Chris King MTN30 AL wheels are available from all Chris King authorized retailers and the company’s web shop at ChrisKing.com.
