It’s been over 15 years since brothers Will and James Meyer of Brother Cycles in the UK first hatched a plan to produce a simple steel track frame. At the time, they merely wanted something of their own to ride. Fast forward to today, and the small brand has grown into a beloved presence in the alternative bike space. They make no-nonsense bikes to suit a range of riders and pursuits, host community-building rides/events around the UK and Europe, and have launched and teased some truly refreshing products that bring fun and joy back to cycling while remaining capable and practical on various budgets. Frames are designed from their countryside workshop and made in Taiwan by frame builders with over 30 years of experience.

The frame boasts clearance for 650b x 2.2″ or 700c x 50mm tires, three bottle mounts, rear rack/fender provisions, an ED coating for rust resistance, flat mount brakes, a SRAM UDH hanger, and thru-axles. The 1.5″ – 1.1/8″ tapered full carbon disc fork has fender/triple cage mounts, dynamo routing, and flip chip dropouts.

The personality of the Mehteh (pronounced /meɪteɪ/) is reflected in its name, a Himalayan word for the mountain-dwelling yeti, which literally translates as “man-beast.” For 2025, the Mehteh is available in Tequilla Sunrise or Stealth Black in sizes XS to XXL. It’s priced at £999 ($1,290) excluding tax. Learn more about the Mehteh here.

It’s a distinctive offering that features canti/V-brake mounts and is 650B-specific with room for 50mm tires. It has low-mid trail geometry and a flexible, fast, and fun feel. Wanting to shake up my fleet, I built one last year, and it’s still my most-ridden bike.

Boasting only tried-and-true standards, the Mr Wooden begs to be built up out of the parts bin. Will and James from Brother aptly call it “a middle finger to the throwaway culture we live in today.” The frame has rack/fender mounts, downtube shifter mounts, mid-blade fork mounts, and room for three bottles.

The Mr Wooden is offered in Lilac Metallic or Green Metallic and available in sizes XS to XL. A frameset costs £582 ($750) excluding tax. Learn more about it here.

Brother Stroma

The Stroma is a versatile, year-round road bike suited to the UK’s ever-changing weather and road surfaces. It’s an all-road, fast gravel, endurance bike. However you want to classify it, the Stroma is an extremely capable machine designed to be fast, responsive, and supremely comfortable over distance, no matter how rough it gets. It earns its namesake from a remote island off the rough northeast coast of Scotland that’s battered by ferocious weather and near impenetrable tides.

The Stroma frame and fork will clear 38mm tires, and it features thru-axle flat-mount dropouts, replaceable dropout inserts, two bottle cages, rear rack mounts, and Di2 routing.
