We’ve partnered with Overmountain Cycles and Fonta Flora Brewery to kick off our first group ride grand depart on the Wilson’s Ramble loop this May! Find all the details and get signed up here…
The Wilson Ramble. You’ve heard of the bikepacking route and maybe even daydreamed about exploring the sometimes infamous and always demanding gravel roads of the Wilson Creek area. Now’s your chance. Overmountain Cycles and BIKEPACKING.com are teaming up to bring you the best reason to saddle up and explore the “Other Pisgah.”
On May 21st, we’re hosting the Wilson’s Ramble group start from Fonta Flora Brewery’s Whippoorwill Farm in Nebo, North Carolina. Bring your pals and come challenge yourself on this demanding yet gorgeous 133-mile route with nearly 15,000 feet of elevation gain. For more details of the route, find the route guide here. Note that the route will be changing a little bit prior to the group start; we’ll send details to folks who RSVP.
Participating riders are required to be self-sufficient. This is not an official event. There will be no aid stations or sag vehicles, and we are not responsible for your safety or location. People are welcome to do the ride at their own pace whether that’s two or three days (or five days for that matter), but we’re starting together for fun. This group start is not a race, either. However, the first finishers should expect some exciting high fives and goodies at the finish.
Schedule
– Friday, May 20th, 5 PM: Brewery Hangout*
– Friday, May 20th, 8 PM: Raffle Winners (must be present to win)*
– Saturday, May 21st, 7:30/8:30 AM: Group start!
– Sunday (or Monday or whenever): riders finish and head home
*Camping is allowed at Fonta Flora on Friday night, but a donation of $10 is required to the brewery. There is no other cost for attending the group start.
Raffle!
This is a free non-event, but to cover a few expenses, we’re holding a raffle to collect donations. And we’ve got some great prizes on tap, including a set of wheels from Industry Nine, a custom frame bag and several accessory bags from Rockgeist, apparel from Kitsbow and DeFeet, and a few other goodies from BIKEPACKING.com. We won’t be offering raffle tickets onsite, so use the donation form in the RSVP below to get your tickets. There are lots of prizes, so chances of winning are pretty good!
RSVP (Space is limited)
Sign up here and we’ll be sending emails and info leading up to the event. Please do not sign up unless you’re certain you’ll be attending. If you’d like to make a donation and help cover the costs of insurance, porta-jons, etc, enter the raffle, too. Note that we’ll be donating the excess funds to the Northwest North Carolina Mountain Bike Alliance, a local organization building and advocating for trails in the area. Sorry, no refunds in the case of cancelations or other unforeseen events.
Sorry, we’ve taken the maximum number of RSVPs for the allotted space at Fonta Flora. But don’t worry, we’ll do it again next year!
