Katya Rakhmatulina was the second rider in the women’s category to cross the finish line of the 2023 Tour Divide this afternoon. The 28-year-old rookie from Oakland, California, rolled into Antelope Wells at 3:48 p.m. local time with a finish time of 17 days, 8 hours, and 48 minutes (17d:08h:48m). Katya was within 40 miles of the women’s leader Lael Wilcox during the day yesterday and had a strong finish 180 miles ahead of the next women in the field at the time of her completion.
Katya had her fair share of issues throughout the race as well, including the complete loss of one of her brakes due to a bag wearing holes in the hydraulic lines, which had to be repaired at a bike shop fairly early in the race. Despite this setback, Katya retained a strong second-place position throughout the race. Katya was riding a Unicorn Cycles Ti drop-bar bike decked out with bags from Revelate Designs and Swift Industries.
Congrats, Katya! We hope to see you out there in other races.
