In last week’s Friday Debrief, we asked readers to share their favorite in-phone navigation apps in a brief survey. Find the top results and help inform our route-planning resources by taking part in a more detailed survey of your preferred planning and navigation methods here…

There are countless apps for navigation and route planning these days. Some perform certain tasks better than others or have better layers, and many of us often use a couple of them to accomplish all the functions we need while planning and navigating routes. Still, we each have our favorites. To start the conversation on this topic, we asked our readers about their favorite in-phone app for navigation. We left this survey open-ended to help craft a more involved survey to better understand the needs of our community. Please take a minute to fill out the resulting survey below, which will help inform our upcoming refreshed guide to route planning. We’ll share some of these results in that piece. For now, you can find the top five results of last week’s survey below.

In last week’s results—largely aimed at gaining insight into what apps you’re using—we asked a simple, open-ended question: What app do you use for in-phone navigation during your bikepacking trips? We received nearly 1,000 answers and many write-in suggestions that helped craft the survey above. Thanks! Here are the top five results:

  1. Ride With GPS
  2. Komoot
  3. Gaia GPS
  4. Google Maps
  5. Mapout
