Inspired by his Oregon Timber Trail rig from MADE last year, Max Keegan just finished a small batch of his new Mostly Forever Livingwell frames, a steel hardtail designed around a 120mm fork, 2.75 or 29 x 2.6″ rubber, and an included rear rack. Learn more here…

We met Max Keegan at the inaugural MADE handmade bike show in Portland last year. After years of working in various metal fabrication shops, he launched his handmade bike brand, Mostly Forever (MF Bikes), in 2020. He offers custom bikes, handlebars, segmented forks, stems, bikepacking bags, and, as of today, his first handmade stock-geo bike.

The new Mostly Forever Livingwell is inspired by the bike Max brought to MADE, which was designed specifically for the Oregon Timber Trail. According to Max, the Livingwell is intended for trail riding, trail riding with a light load, bikepack racing, S240 routes, and overnighters. “I’ve used mine to tour, commute to work, race cyclocross, get groceries, and deliver items for shipment.” Max explains, “It’s versatile, like most bikes.”

The Livingwell is handmade in Bend, Oregon, from Velospec steel tubing, domestically sourced CNC-machined dropouts, bottom bracket, and head tube from Paragon, Cobra yokes, and 3D-printed bolt-on cable guides. It’s designed around a 120mm travel fork, with the size small optimized for 27.5 x 2.6″ tires and the medium and large frames using 29 x 2.6″. All sizes have adjustable sliding dropouts and loads of mounting points for bolt-on bags, cages, and more. Max integrated a minimal rear rack into the design, which is included with each frame, to make the bike more functional for shorter riders.

Other specs include a 73mm BSA threaded bottom bracket, 31.6mm seat post, 35mm seat tube, 148mm boost spacing, and a 44mm head tube. All sizes have a 67.5° head tube angle, a 74.5° effective seat tube angle, and a minimum chainstay length of 418mm. Check out the complete geo chart below.
