Helsinki, Finland-based Pelago Bicycles (@pelagobicycles) just launched two new versatile bag models that are built to be equally at home hauling daily essentials around the city or loaded up for extended bikepacking tours further afield. With comfy shoulder straps, built-in organization, and relatively low pricepoints, the Rackbag and Totebag both look like good options for blending your time on and off the bike, whatever the destination. Pelago Rackbag
Available in two sizes, Pelago’s new Rackbag is designed to sit perfectly on the brand’s own front racks. Pelago product designer Kaisa Pohjapelto sewed up the first version of the Rackbag herself when she was leaving for a tour and couldn’t find the perfect bag, and various versions and sizes have since been tested and improved upon, leading to the finished products released today. The Rackbag is designed to attach to the front rack securely and easily by way of four velcro straps, and it has sturdy padding on the underside to help it keep its shape and protect your cargo while on the move. A roll-top closure means the bag can be tightly rolled to pack down small when lightly loaded or expand up to 23 liters (Rackbag Medium) or 44 liters (Rackbag Large) when needed.
The Rackbag comes in either black or green, and the two sizes correspond to Pelago’s rack sizes. The Rackbag Medium measures 42cm high x 25cm wide x 22cm deep and the Rackbag Large measures 49cm high x 34cm wide x 27cm deep. Both are made of water repellent 600D polyester, feature handles and shoulder straps, and come with a removable Pelago pouch. The medium bag has two side pockets and the large has four. They’re priced at 79€ ($90) and 89€ ($100), respectively.
Pelago Totepack
Also available in two sizes, the new Pelago Totepack was conceived as a multi-purpose everyday bag that works equally well on the bike or as a backpack or shoulder bag. It’s tailored to sit inside Pelago’s Rasket (a combination rack/basket) and features discreet, adjustable backpack straps that help it transform at the end of your ride. A dedicated laptop sleeve protects your computer, front pockets assist with organization, and a removable Pelago Pouch is also included.
The Totepack is made from the same water repellent 600D polyester as the Rackbag, and both sizes are available in black only. The Totepack Medium measures 39cm high x 30cm wide x 14cm deep and the Totepack Large measures 39cm high x 33cm wide x 22cm deep. They come in at 79€ ($90) and 89€ ($100), respectively.
