Portland-based Primos Cycles has opened pre-orders for the upgraded sibling of its gravel model, the Dame, dubbed the SuperDame. The SuperDame takes the Dame’s geometry and adds a carbon fork, an L-TWOO eGR electronic shifting and hydraulic brakes, and 700c wheels wrapped in Continental Terra Trail tires. Featuring the same 4130 steel tubing as the Dame, the SuperDame is positioned as a premium option for those riders looking to shed a little weight and ditch the wires.

The SuperDame has a stated clearance of 650B x 45mm or 700C x 42mm at the rear end and 650B / 700C x 55mm at the fork. The frame also has mounts for fenders and racks and uses a press-fit bottom bracket standard. The headtube is a tapered 1 1/8″ to 1.5,” and the bike uses thru-axles with 12 x 100 and 12 x 142 spacing. The bike also comes with tubeless-compatible wheels, weighs 25 pounds in size medium, and is based around a 1x drivetrain.

What’s most interesting about the Primos SuperDame is the use of the L-TWOO groupset. A Chinese rival that has primarily been purchased through B2C websites like Aliexpress, there aren’t too many companies that have taken the plunge on using the relatively unproven 10-speed group on their bikes. Complete with hydraulic brakes, an 11-46T cassette, and a 40T chainring, there’s no doubt that the listed specs of the eGR group aim to compete with entry-level Shimano and SRAM offerings. The only question is whether they’ll have the same degree of functionality and reliability. The SuperDame is currently only available as a complete. It starts at $1,400 for the pre-sale and comes in four sizes and two colors: Grey Ash and Napster.
