Just launched, the new Ratio Derailleur Cage allows you to upgrade a SRAM 11-speed derailleur to work with a wide-range 52-tooth cassette for either mountain bikes or gravel bikes. Find all the details here…
Ratio Technology, makers of one of our favorite component upgrades last year, just announced a new product. Their new Made In The Lakes Ratio Derailleur Cage allows you to increase existing SRAM 1×11 derailleurs with a 28t, 36t, or 42t limit to a cassette capacity to up to 52 teeth. According to Ratio, “There’s no oversized jockey wheels with dubious efficiency claims on this one, just a practical and inexpensive way to keep older derailleurs working.”
The Ratio Derailleur Cage features 7075 aluminum plates with Delrin jockey wheels, all machined in-house by Ratio in the Lake District, UK. The cage is compatible with SRAM 1×11 derailleurs that have Type 2.x and Type 3 clutches, including both road and mountain bike versions, as well as SRAM 1×12 Eagle derailleurs.
The new Ratio Cage comes in a bundle with the 1×12 Wide Ratchet and Cage Kit, providing all the parts necessary to convert a SRAM Force 1, Rival 1, or Apex 1 11-speed mechanical shifter and derailleur to 12-speed to work with a wide-range cassette with up to 52 teeth. We’ve been using the Ratio Kit on our bikes and can confirm that it makes an excellent low-cost mullet drivetrain on a gravel bike. We’re excited to see the new cage that looks to improve it further. You can also get the cage-only option, which works as a replacement cage for MTB derailleurs. For example, you could use an original XX1 11-speed derailleur with the cage for a 12-speed Eagle drivetrain.
The Ratio Wide Ratchet and Cage Kit is available here for £139.50 and comes with the full cage assembly and jockey wheels, a 1×12 Wide Ratchet, and the ratchet screw. The Ratio Derailleur Cage sells by itself for £89.50 and is available here.
