Originally designed and manufactured by Porcelain Rocket and now offered by Rockgeist, the Dumpling is a quick-access, 100% waterproof hip pack that we’ve used and loved for several years. While Porcelain Rocket offered the Dumpling in two sizes (Big Dumpling and Little Dumpling), Rockgeist has only had the larger of the two available—until now. I’ve been using a prototype version of the original Big Dumpling for more than three years now, which has carried my Canon 6D on nearly every bikepacking trip since then. It has proven to be durable, totally waterproof, and quick to open, thanks to its bungee closure. I have yet to find a method for carrying a camera that offers the same level of protection and accessibility.
At 6L, the Big Dumpling is huge, so it’s great to see Rockgeist adding the Little Dumpling to the lineup. It features all the same specs, including the waterproof roll-top opening, seam welded construction, bungee closure, internal organization sleeve, and a closed-cell foam/3D mesh back and hip padding. The smaller 3L capacity looks perfect for smaller point-and-shoot cameras or mirrorless setups.
