Ronnie Romance of Ron’s Bikes showcased some interesting leather hiking boots at the MADE bike show this year, and we’re excited to see them available for pre-order. Ronnie teamed up with Queen City Footwear in Vermont to make what they describe as “the ultimate New England hike-bike boot.” Designed for equal parts hiking and biking, the Taconic Rambler Boots feature a heavy-duty leather upper, 4mm merino wool felt in the tongue and collar, and they ship with two insoles: a breathable molded ortholite footbed and a 4mm merino wool insole so you can try them both out.
The $475 USD boots are made from scratch at Queen City’s shop in Vermont using their stitchdown platform, which allows for easy resoling and excellent durability. The boots are available in 11 sizes (men’s 4-14/women’s 6-16), and pre-orders are open now. The Taconic Ramblers will ship in December. Ron also posted a video on YouTube that dives into the specifics behind the boot, where and how it’s made, and some other fun details.
