Adam at Sklar Bikes recently built up a 32-inch bicycle to experience the new wheel size for himself. His latest blog post dives into the process, his first impressions on 32-inch wheels, and why he won’t be offering a production 32er any time soon. Find that here…
There’s no question that 32-inch wheels have caused quite the stir in the bicycle industry, but what’s missing is real-world thoughts on this new, larger-than-life wheel size. Is it any good? Is it only practical for tall folk? Will every bike brand offer a 32-inch bike next year? We don’t have all the answers yet, but we are excited to hear from riders who have been on 32-inch wheels, which now includes Adam at Sklar Bikes.
After getting his hands on some prototype Maxxis Aspen 32 x 2.4″ tires, Adam wasn’t in a hurry to build a 32-inch bike of his own. He wasn’t sold on it, but he eventually started designing something around the PBJ fork because it happened to have enough clearance for 32-inch wheels. In his latest blog post, Adam shares details on the bike’s geometry, scenes from a ride in the Marin Headlands, and impressions on how riding 32-inch wheels feels. The blog post ends with Adam explaining why there won’t be a production 32-inch Sklar any time soon. You can dive into the full post at SklarBikes.com.
