The Stayer Cycles Banana Stem is a new component that looks to offer some practical whimsy in a unique package. For more on this interestingly shaped stem, read on below…

The Stayer Cycles Banana Stem is a quirky new offering from the small London-based shop set to provide some whimsical wonder to your bike. Initially, the component was just an unnamed three-stem project. So, Craig Lambard of Stayer Cycles took to Instagram to ask what it should be called. A barrage of phallus-inspired names hit the comment section, but they eventually landed on the Banana Stem—a 1-1/8″ 100mm riser stem with a 31.8mm clamp. To their surprise, the stems sold out almost instantly, so they’ve decided to make more, as the stem’s upright position and reach are ideally designed for something like the Wizard Works Basket Bag.

Despite its recent surge in interest, the Banana Stem has actually undergone years of real-world testing. Per Stayer, “The first Banana Banana was built back in 2021 for Wizard Works, who needed a stem that could run drop bars and a front basket, while keeping enough clearance so everything played nicely together.” But the stem has also been helpful for taller folks, with a 6’4″ friend of the brand running his on a cargo bike to make it more “balanced and comfortable.”

The Banana Stem is available for pre-order now and comes in two reach options: 60 mm or 100mm. The stems can also be painted in any color customers desire for an extra £20. For more on the Stayer Cycles Banana Stem, visit StayerCycles.com.
