Despite being one of the most popular bikepacking events worldwide, the Tour Divide maintains an underground, grassroots feel that keeps riders coming back year after year. There are unlimited reasons to return and re-ride the 2,745-mile route, whether it’s because the last ride didn’t quite go as planned or to experience the route differently, from a new perspective. In any case, those who have tackled the Tour Divide previously ride away with a wealth of knowledge and takeaways that are invaluable for future attempts.

In Old Man Mountain’s latest video, OMM’s Community and Content Manager, Erich Weidenkeller, sits down with two-time Tour Divide participant, Mateo Paez, fresh off his 2025 attempt, to hear what he learned from this year’s ride and how the experience will shape his approach in the future.
