The new Velo Orange Harborside Basket Bags are built in Baltimore using traditional materials and designed to fit the ubiquitous Wald 137 basket. Available in three colors, the first batch is already selling out fast. Find details here…
Freshly released by Velo Orange in Maryland, the Harborside is a classically styled, hardwearing bag designed to fit snugly in the iconic Wald 137 basket. Built in Baltimore from weather-resistant waxed canvas and paired with a waterproof interior liner, it blends timeless looks with modern fabrics. The bag features a padded bottom, a chunky brass main zipper, an open rear stash pocket for quick-access items, side clips that secure it to your basket, an internal pocket for organization, sturdy carry handles, and a removable shoulder strap.
In all, the Harborside looks like a well-made, no-nonsense basket bag that would last a long time, thanks to its durable materials, and would take on a nice patina as it ages. It’s reminiscent of Rivendell’s Sackville bags, which make great day-to-day companions for toting goods on and off the bike. If keeping your cargo fully sealed from the elements is your priority, this likely isn’t your best option, unless you use a drybag inside. Still, it would look mighty nice on a commuter or basketpacking rig in drier climates.
The Velo Orange Horborside Basket Bag measures 12.7 x 7.5 x 7.8 inches (32.5 x 19.2 x 20 centimeters), has a reasonable 12.5L volume, and weighs around 544 grams with the shoulder strap. It’s priced at $149 and is available in Olive, Tan, and Black, though stock is already limited in some colors.
