In today’s edition of Weekend Snapshot, we catch up with a few members of the team who were recently out bikepacking around three different continents. Find an array of vignettes from North America, Europe, and Asia here, and be sure to use the short from to share a scene from one of your recent rides…

We love sharing reader-submitted photos and stories through Weekend Snapshot every Monday morning, but we also try to practice what we preach whenever possible, and today’s edition features three more bikepacking vignettes from members of our team. Catch up with Joe in Taiwan, Neil in Utah, and Josh in Spain below. We’ll be back with more photos from readers next week, and one of them could be yours if you take a moment to use the submission form at the bottom of this post!

Spain

Weekend Snapshot

By Josh Meissner

From knee-deep snow on Mont San Lorenzo to smooth gravel tracks through the endless vineyards of the Ebro Valley, the compact La Rioja region showed me many sides. After skiing my bike into Ezcaray, new friends fed me until I was fit to burst. Carlos, aka Mr. La Demanda Cycling, gave me a lay of the land along his Ibérica Norte route—a La Rioja tasting, as it were. Thank you! Another place I need to return to. After an eventful month in Spain, I’m headed home and looking forward to writing it all up.

Taiwan

By Joe Cruz

A group of us old friends from London, Los Angeles, and New York reunited for a trip in Taiwan. We traveled self-supported but fast and light and saw so much. Taroko Gorge was a standout. This is a place of magical landscapes, exquisite food, and deep culture. We returned home just days before the earthquake, and Taiwan is in each of our hearts and thoughts.

Utah

Weekend Snapshot

By Neil Beltchenko

My friend Eric and I seized a brief break in the weather between storms. I’ve pedaled this terrain for over a decade, seeking refuge from mountain snowpack. Despite covering countless trails and roads, each glance at the map unveils new bikepacking possibilities. Our latest trip started on hero gravel roads before reach the Buzzard Belly General Store, nestled in the nearly deserted town of Cisco. We then hopped on the more rugged Kokopelli Trail back to Rabbit Valley.
