We’re zooming in on another trio of backyard rides and campouts from our global community of readers for today’s edition of Weekend Snapshot. This time around, we head to Arizona, Spain’s Isla de la Palma, and south-central France. Find this week’s snapshots below, then scroll down to the bottom of this post to submit your own!
Massif Central, France
By Timothé Girard (@atlasducycle)
As part of our school vacation, I recently rode through France’s Massif Central with my friend Léo. We left from Clermont-Ferrand and headed toward Saint-Flour. The sun was shining, and we followed the GTMC and GR30 aboard our 90s mountain bikes, finding the last of the winter snow. Our route crossed four mountain ranges, and the colors and landscapes were fabulous!
La Palma, Spain
By Ryan Dunham (@misterdunham)
We’ve been riding the Canary Islands for a couple of months now. Using the Gran Guanche route as a base, we’ve been adding roads that look interesting or have been recommended by other riders. This weekend, we left the tent and all unnecessary gear behind to take a day ride to check out an active volcanic ridge called Cumbre Vieja. It was amazing to ride on the black volcanic sand through beautiful pine forest and occasionally across old lava flows.
Arizona
By John Whalen
Delayed by COVID, my friend Mark and I finally found an opportunity to ride the Black Canyon Trail in Arizona. It didn’t disappoint, with excellent weather and the trail itself was an absolute joy to ride!
