The arrival of chilly weather hasn’t stopped many readers in the Northern Hemisphere from getting out on two wheels, and in our 150th installment of Weekend Snapshot, we catch up with three of them. Join folks from our worldwide community as they pedal around Vermont, Germany, and Minnesota, and if you haven’t done so already, take a moment to share a scene from one of your recent rides here…
Community is at the core of today’s Weekend Snapshot, which finds new riding partners getting to know some of the people who give a place its character, a group of folks with a shared passion enjoying an overnighter together, and an eclectic mix of people from coming together for an event that raises money to introduce kids to the joy of riding. Take a moment to browse all three vignettes below, then scroll further to find some related posts from our deep well and a quick form you can use to contribute to a future installment of this weekly series.

Riding the Roundabout Brattleboro and experiencing two days of downpour, I snapped this photo while we stopped at a local farm shop to take cover and eat some local veg. We had fun getting in sync and finding our rhythm on our first ride together.

Schlopptoberween: Part roaming radventure, part FUNdraiser! Ride organizer Anders always brings together such a positive and joyful group of folks to raise some money for a great cause and get sendy along the way. This year, Schlopptoberween raised a bunch of dough for Pedal Power MN, a non-profit that introduces biking to school-age children in underserved communities and across Minneapolis. Schlopptoberween showcases the amazing bicycle community here in the Twin Cities, and Anders deserves so much credit and love for putting this together every year!
Germany

A scene from earlier this season when the forests around Berlin had just started changing and the trees were putting on their autumn dress. The golden hour of these days might come earlier, but they are just magical. Fall is perfect time to get your friends together for a “end of season” campout in a remote forest hut. Flowy and muddy tracks, many laughs, and of course a mid-ride pizza stop shaped day one, and the second day started with communal breakfast and getting lost in the endless woods and ended with a wine-powered sprint to the train station.
Send Us Your Weekend Snapshot
We’ll be selecting three photos per week to feature in Weekend Snapshot. Send yours along for consideration, and if it’s selected, we’ll be in touch! Note: We prefer 3:2 ratio landscape-oriented photos.
