Charyn Canyon, Kazakhstan

By Mat Bester
After an overnight camp at the bottom of Charyn Canyon, I slowly made my way back up to the main road, often stopping to admire the scenery and take many photos.
Colorado, USA

By Ann Driggers
On my first bikepacking trip of the year, an 80-mile loop through the red rock canyon country of northwest Colorado, a long day of riding through the incredible and classic scenery of the desert Southwest brought us to a lush park on the banks of the Green River. After a long cold winter, it felt fantastic to throw off my shoes and dig my toes in the warm sand. We pitched camp beneath a towering wall and listened to the cascading song of the canyon wren tumble down the surrounding cliffs and strolled around marveling at the proliferation of spring wildflowers. Overnight, I set my camera out to capture the stars wheeling around Polaris, the North Star, approximately six hours of the Earth’s rotation.
New Mexico, USA

By Cass Gilbert
Whenever I return to New Mexico, riding and camping out with my community of biking friends is invariably the highlight of my trip. On this occasion a few weeks back, a small group of us rode out of town on Friday late afternoon. We made it to the very top of Atalaya Mountain in the Sangre de Cristo range just after dusk, unfurled our various sleeping accommodations – be it a bivy bag or a tent – and chatted long into the night. With morning came a glorious view over the city and the surroundings, then a blistering descent on a favourite trail, Dog Park, back into the heart of Santa Fe. What a way to spend meaningful time with friends and start the weekend!
